"I am looking forward to working with Ashley Glaze and her Junior Kindergarten class!"

- Vicki Schemm, Junior Kindergarten Aide

I am originally from the great state of Georgia—Go Dawgs! I moved to North Carolina after marrying Pete in 1992. There he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, where we would eventually be introduced to the Great Books curriculum. This is where our interest in classical education began.

Our family moved to Roanoke in 2010, and we have been connected to Faith Christian School ever since. My oldest son, Colby, was our first FCS student. He graduated in 2015. Our youngest son, Chase, will be in 9th grade this fall.

What post-secondary schools did you attend? Degrees held?

I have an Associate in Applied Science degree from Truett-Mconnell College.

Have you taught or been involved in schools somewhere else prior to FCS? If so, where, and how long?

My early years of school involvement came through home-educating most of our eight children at various stages in their journeys. Our oldest child turns 30 this summer; our youngest is 14.

I’ve been involved at Cave Spring Baptist Preschool since 2019, teaching the Bible class during the '22-23 school year and substituting this past school year.

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially family game nights, reading when I have a quiet moment (which isn’t too often), and my favorite Labradoodle, Titus. I also enjoy working with our youth at our church, Cave Spring Baptist.

What do you love about the idea of working at Faith Christian School or what do you anticipate appreciating most about Faith Christian School?

I am looking forward to working with Ashley Glaze and her Junior Kindergarten class!

How many books do you have stacked on your bedside table or in your "To Read" pile?

I am presently reading The Wisdom Pyramid by Brett McCracken. Some books on my bedside table are The Quiet Place: Daily Devotional Readings by Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, and Maud: The Life of L.M. Montgomery by Harry Bruce.

If you have a "life verse" or a verse that is ministering to you right now, what might it be?

One of my favorite passages of Scripture is 1 Cor. 10:31—“whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
