"Making others happy is a big part of who I am, whether it’s through small gestures or lending a hand when someone needs it."

- Kenny Sauls, Director of Security

I am from West Virginia and served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. I lived in Florida before settling here in Roanoke, where I met my wife Tammy and her two boys, Noah and Evan. I have a degree from Liberty University in Interdisciplinary Studies.

What is your background prior to joining FCS?

I retired from the Roanoke Police Department as a Lieutenant after serving there for 23 years.

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

I enjoy golfing, camping with my family, riding my motorcycle, bicycling, watching sports, and a short-distance triathlon from time to time.

What do you love about the idea of working at Faith Christian School or what do you anticipate appreciating most about Faith Christian School?

Serving in a God-centered atmosphere where the focus is on serving others and nurturing the next generation of Christians.

What has stood out to you since you have been introduced to your position?

Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and hospitable.

What are some of the books that impacted you and how? What's a favorite book you've read?

I am currently reading Practicing the Way by John Mark, and I enjoy reading books by John Eldredge also for the life aspects they incorporate into their books.

If you have a "life verse" or a verse that is ministering to you right now, what might it be?

Job 19:25, Mark 12:30

If you have a personal life's mission statement, what is it?

My mission statement for life focuses on friends, family, and service to others. I want our home to be a place filled with love and support, where we laugh a lot and grow together. Making others happy is a big part of who I am, whether it’s through small gestures or lending a hand when someone needs it. Being a Christian is important to me, and I try to show that in how I live. I’m not perfect, and I’ve made mistakes, but I’m learning from them and trying to be a better person because of them. I hope others can see my journey, and I can share a thing or two I’ve learned along the way. Overall, I want to live a life that shows kindness, faith, and love, leaving a positive mark on the people around me.
