The Roanoke Valley Leadership Series (RVLS) was founded by Faith Christian School in 2014. Its purpose was to engage constituencies beyond those directly connected to the school, specifically regional business, religious and community leaders, and influencers of the highest caliber.
RVLS was inspired by Jeremiah 29:7: “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you …and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” With this charge in mind, the RVLS mission states:
The Roanoke Valley Leadership Series exists to seek the welfare of the Roanoke Valley by equipping, inspiring, and honoring leaders and influencers across the region.
RVLS serves the community with excellence in programming, genuine hospitality, and authenticity in presentation by offering a transformational leadership experience without direct benefit to Faith Christian School.
Nationally recognized leaders speak at an annual breakfast. In addition, four years ago, the “Inspiring Roanoke Award” was established to recognize an individual known for a positive and inspiring impact on the Roanoke community. The award has been presented to a broad range of distinguished recipients, including former Roanoke College President Mike Maxey and Roanoke Star designer and builder Roy C. Kinsey.
The event is free, invitation-only, and includes no fundraising. RVLS is underwritten by sponsors who value affiliation with an exceptional leadership event.
This year marks the 10th RVLS event, following a two-year hiatus due to COVID. If you wish to learn more about this event, contact Chelsea Friske, Executive Director of the Roanoke Valley Leadership Series, at Leadership@fcsva.com.
