The Myers family shares how faithfulness at Faith Christian School has impacted their family—faithfulness demonstrated by teachers as they prepare students as well as faithfulness to do one's best encouraged in children.
How long has your family been a part of our school?
Four years.
Why did you choose FCS for your child(ren)?
We wanted our children to have a Christian Classical Education. We liked everything about the learning model and felt like it was the best fit for our family.
What do you love most about FCS?
We love that the school desires to partner with us as we work to raise our children.
How is FCS preparing your student(s) for God's call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?
Our children are young (6 and 9), but FCS is still doing a wonderful job of instilling in them that the way they live their lives matters. The faculty and staff emphasize more than just academics, they also focus on the way that the students go about their work, the way they treat each other, and their overall attitude towards each day. In a world that often focuses on the negative, blames the "other guy", and shirks responsibility, FCS is encouraging our children to be the total opposite.
What is one word that describes our school? Tell us why you chose that word.
Faithful - the school is committed to the long-term growth and development of our children. We have seen this as our oldest child has progressed from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. The teachers are not interested in just moving the children on to the next grade, they are focused on preparing them academically and spiritually for life. The teachers emphasize that what they are doing is not just about today's lesson but it is also about future assignments and life in general.
Describe one of your favorite (or your student's favorite) teachers and the impact that this teacher has had in your student's life - or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.
We have really seen Addison (3rd grade) bloom this year with Mrs. Bower as her teacher. Mrs. Bower has encouraged Addison to strive and work to do her best—and called her out when Mrs. Bower felt Addison was not working to her potential! She has done this in a way that has encouraged Addison and built her up. We have seen changes in her attitude and growth in her character as the year has progressed. It has been a joy to watch!
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at FCS?
Just visit! Let you child attend class, come observe a chapel, hang out in the Great Room during lunch. If you have young children don't just visit the lower school—visit the upper school as well to see the type of young adults that FCS produces.
