Senior Spotlight: Matthew Burton, Class of 2026

In what grade did you start attending Faith?

I started attending Faith Christian School in fifth grade.

What activities were you involved in while you were a student at Faith?

I have participated in various activities and sports. I play basketball and golf, and I am in the Ministerium and Veritas clubs.

What might some of your favorite memories be?

My favorite memory was the field trip to Wallops Island.

What is your thesis topic, and why did you choose it?

My Thesis Topic is on NIL (Name, Image, & Likeness) and the college football Transfer Portal. I chose this Topic because I am a college football fan, and I have become very interested in how the sport is evolving because of NIL and the portal.

How has learning in a Christian environment at FCS positively affected your education?

Learning in a Christian environment at FCS has positively affected my education because I feel closer to my teachers and friends.

Has there been a teacher at FCS who has impacted your faith, education, or personal growth in a significant way? If you were to say thank you to this person, what might you say? 

One teacher I would like to say thank you to is Mrs. Goodman. She is such a good math teacher because she knows how to prepare her students well. Also, thank you to Mrs. G and Mr. Sauls, who have worked very hard as our senior advisors.

What does it mean to be a classical and Christian school?

Learning in a classical and Christian school means we study some of the best works and people of the past, while looking at it with a Christian lens.

What are some things you would like to tell younger students as they continue their education at FCS?

One thing I would tell younger students is to enjoy their time in high school because it doesn’t last forever.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to go to Liberty University and study Exercise Science.
