“Not only is our son known and loved, but he is learning SO MUCH!” - Kelly Lambert
How long has your family been a part of Faith Christian School?
My son Armand is a curious and ever-growing Junior Kindergartner, so we are relatively new to Faith, although our journey with Ms. Cathi Weber started many months before Armand’s Junior Kindergarten adventures started.
Why did you choose FCS for your child?
Armand is an only child, so all of the decisions we’ve had to make have been “firsts” for us. When I walked through the doors of Faith for our first visit, I had no idea what to expect. But I was determined to find the best opportunity for Armand to learn and grow in God’s love, surrounded by people that support and encourage such growth.
What do you love most about FCS?
The most positive impact for Armand was so unexpected during this first year—the fact that his connections, his foundation, goes far beyond the walls of his Junior Kindergarten classmates and teachers.
Beyond his JK class is his fifth-grade buddy, Lane. We knew it would probably be a good experience for Armand to have a fifth-grade buddy, but weren’t quite sure what to expect.
We had decided to attend the Harvest Hangout last fall, and again, we went in not knowing what to expect, but knowing it would be good. And let me tell you, we had so much fun! And the most special, memorable part of it wasn’t the games, the pumpkins, the music, or the treats (all good, of course).
The memories were because of Lane Matthews, Armand's buddy! When we got there, Armand was so eager to find some of his classmates. But we didn’t see many (close by, at least). Armand seemed a little lost, but after only seconds of settling in on our blanket, Lane came right over and gave Armand a big hug and asked if he wanted to hang out. Armand was almost too excited to talk (and so were we!). They hung out for quite a while. Lane did the bounce houses with him, and he let Armand hang out with him and his older friends. Lane hadn't decorated his pumpkin yet, so he later even asked Armand to help him, and so they decorated a pumpkin together.
He was such a gentleman and a great fifth-grade buddy! Since Armand is an only child, I think it was extra special to him, and Lane was a great "older brother" and role model. When we went to leave, Armand started crying, and one of Lane's classmates saw Armand crying and actually went and got Lane. He came right over and gave Armand a big hug. It was a special night for us because we saw how much Armand is loved and supported as a growing child. It really touched us.
How is FCS preparing your student for God's call on their lives?
There is a supporting, loving “school family” around Armand that is giving him the confidence and encouragement he needs as a young boy. It’s the students, the staff, the teachers—it’s everyone and everything. It’s being surrounded by goodness and kindness.
Describe one of your favorite (or your student's favorite) teachers and the impact that this teacher has had in your student's life - or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.
I must give a quick shout out to Armand’s amazing JK teachers, Mrs. Glaze and Mrs. Ridinger. Sometimes over dinner or while we’re playing together, he’ll surprise us with some impressive fact or something he’s learned. We are almost always surprised and ask, “Where did you learn that?!” Every single time he smiles proudly and says “Mrs. Glaze and Mrs. Ridinger.” So not only is he loved, but he is learning SO MUCH!
