What post-secondary schools did you attend? Degrees held?

I attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Political Science.

Have you taught or been involved in schools somewhere else prior to FCS? If so, where, and how long?

My first teaching experience was actually in my senior year of college as a teaching assistant for Christ College, the honors college within Valparaiso University. Last year I taught at Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, and Faith Christian School will be my second position post-graduation.

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

 I play a lot of board games with my husband and our friends! We enjoy all sorts of games. I also enjoy drawing, writing poetry, playing volleyball, reading, watching movies, and cooking for my friends and family.

What or who inspired you to work in education?

The list of teachers would be too long to share, but my biggest inspiration would be Miss Marchant (now Mrs. Busby). She was my second-grade teacher, my biggest advocate, and the best example of servant leadership in the classroom that I know.

What's your favorite book you've read?

Of the books I’ve read this year, a favorite has been The Secret Lives of Color by Kassia St Clair. It’s a fascinating examination of how colors are scientific, social, historical, political, and so much more.

How many books do you have stacked on your bedside table or in your "To Read" pile?

At least 11 at the moment, but I’m working through them as quickly as I can!
