PVO Mission:
Build community and support teachers at Faith Christian School.
Building community at Faith Christian School among families is a high priority for our Parent Volunteer Organization. We seek ways to engage families through volunteer opportunities, times to get to know one another better, and events that develop friendships among students, teachers, parents, and grandparents!
In the fall, we held the Third Annual FCS Harvest Hangout and families experienced an enormous amount of FUN, food, and fellowship! Several grandparents attended and told me they were really glad they came to join their grandkids as they ran from one fun thing to another. While adults relaxed and fellowshipped, the students enjoyed every event to the max.
For the kids, there was face painting (thank you to the SGA), a pumpkin painting contest, giant bounce houses, impromptu soccer games, cornhole, spike ball, and generally just running around the enclosed space on the field while parents kept an eye on them. This year, we also had a BBQ food vendor set up and the hot dog man returned—yum! Last but not least, the open mic was a return hit. The students regaled us with songs, jokes, comedic routines, recitations, and other creative presentations. (Big thanks to Chad Sloan for the sound equipment and monitoring as well as Mrs. Abbey French for patiently acting as stage manager!)
Each year, the PVO has tried to hone in on the events that provide the most fun (while staying safe) and prioritize the relaxed atmosphere so parents (and grandparents) can enjoy the event too! If you’ve got suggestions for making next year better, we want to hear from you! Send an email to pvo@fcsva.com.
