Stephen & Saralyn Hamilton share their family's story.
How long has your family been a part of our school?
Charlotte started Kindergarten 2018.
Why did you choose FCS for your child(ren)?
Picking FCS had so much to do with other families that we love and trust who went before us. One family in particular had been established with FCS, and we knew very little about the school at the time. When it was time to send our daughter, Charlotte, to kindergarten, we knew we had a big decision to make. We knew that we wanted a Christ-centered environment for our child(ren). Pairing that with a Classical Christian model was an unexpected and beautiful element we were excited to see unfold in the years to come.
What do you love most about FCS?
What we love most about FCS is the "one room schoolhouse" feel that one mother recently mentioned. I loved that description so much! Everyone at Faith has the same "CEO" (Jesus Christ) from whom we all are taking direction out of the same "Playbook" (the Word of God). The fact that it is championed and celebrated in our children's school has been incredibly fruitful for our children and family.
What is one word that describes Faith Christian School? Tell us why you chose that word.
Humble - I chose those word because I believe it is Faith's goal to operate from a humble, direct, and unashamed posture at all times - much like Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:14).
Describe one of your favorite (or your student's favorite) teachers and the impact that this teacher has had in your student's life - or perhaps a specific example of a way this teacher has cared for your student in a special way.
Charlotte most recently expressed that Mrs. Bower is her favorite teacher. "She is just the best teacher, Mom!" "She loves to bake things for us all the time!" Mrs. Bower has a gift with preparing children for the upper-middle school grades. She stresses the importance of independence, helping out at home, and being organized. I pray that they will continue to have a sweet relationship well after this third-grade year.
How is FCS preparing your student(s) for God's call on their lives, including hopes, plans, and dreams for college, career, and/or community?
As part of our testimony with Faith Christian School, this was a tough year of discovery for our oldest child, Charlotte. We had to really dig to see what were the best ways she knew how to learn. To be honest, it was really, really hard at times. This included a lot of waiting and trial and error. Thanks to Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Bower, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. DeMott and Mrs. Bower, we were ALL able to come together to create a customized plan to accommodate Charlotte in a couple key areas. We are so thankful for the prayer, patience and planning that went into helping our child. I feel very confident that this type of prayerful attention and care will carry out throughout our children's years to come at FCS!
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at FCS?
If you want your children to know how to think for themselves and to set (and meet) goals for their lives, this is the place to partner with.
