“I feel that teaching is my calling.  I love learning and helping others do the same.
- Leslie Fitzgerald, First Grade

I have lived in the Roanoke Valley my whole life.  My husband, Brian, and I have been married for 14 years. We have three children who will be attending school at Faith Christian School.

I was an elementary school teacher with Roanoke County Public Schools for 17 years. I had a growing desire to be a part of a school community that put Christ first and allowed me to speak openly about my faith with my students.

What post-secondary schools did you attend? Degrees held?

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Roanoke College.

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

I enjoy reading, crafts, and being outdoors.

What or who inspired you to work in education?

I feel that teaching is my calling.  I love learning and helping others do the same.

What do you find most compelling or distinct about Christian classical education?
Classical Christian Education offers students more than just head knowledge. It offers students a foundation on which they can build their intellectual and spiritual future.

What do you love about the idea of teaching at Faith Christian School or what do you anticipate appreciating most about Faith Christian School?

I already love that Faith Christian School is a God-centered learning environment that gives each student the opportunity to develop a love for God and all of the beautiful things he has made.  I am just excited to be a part of that.

What's a favorite book you've read?

The book The Pilgrim's Progress is one that holds a special place in my heart among the many great books I have read because our family first read through it together during the pandemic.  It brought about so many rich conversations in our home about salvation and Christian living. Our children continue to think back on this study as we study scripture together and I am so thankful for the way that one book has made an impact on all of us.

If you have a "life verse" or a verse that is ministering to you right now, what might it be?

Ephesians 2: 8: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."
