Leslie Fitzgerald | Meet Our Teachers

Classical Christian education isn’t just something we experience at school—it’s something we carry into our family life. Whether we’re around the dinner table or on a family vacation, we find ourselves looking for God’s truth, goodness, and beauty in every moment. It’s a beautiful way to live, and I’m grateful that Faith Christian School has shaped our family in this way.

- Leslie Fitzgerald, First Grade Teacher

Before I joined the Faith Christian School community, I spent 17 years teaching in the public school system. While I loved teaching, it always saddened me that I couldn’t share the Gospel with my young students. I felt a strong pull toward a Christian environment where I could openly speak about my faith, and that’s when God led me to Faith Christian School.

I currently teach first grade, and I absolutely love it. There’s something so special about watching young children grow and learn, especially when they begin to read and develop a love for books. Seeing their faces light up when they discover the magic of reading is one of the most rewarding experiences I can imagine.

Faith Christian School provides an exceptional educational experience because we value each student’s individual God-given gifts. We don’t just teach subjects in isolation—we teach that everything is connected by God. Each student is valued as an image-bearer with unique gifts, and it’s amazing to see how that mindset shapes their learning and spiritual growth. At Faith, we encourage students to seek a lifetime of learning, one that glorifies God in all they do.

Fitzgeralds At Faith Christian School

As a parent, I truly appreciate the family-like atmosphere that permeates the school. Students, parents, and faculty work together as a tight-knit community, and that’s not something you find everywhere. My own three children have greatly benefited from this environment. They've formed deep friendships, faced academic challenges, and have been encouraged to pursue spiritual growth. What stands out most to me is how they trust their teachers—they know their teachers are godly men and women who care deeply about their education and their hearts.

Being both a teacher and a parent at the same school is one of the greatest rewards. I get to see my kids each day—watching them play with their friends, interact with their teachers, and engage in the life of the school. It's a gift to be able to share in their experiences, both as a parent and as a teacher.

In my role as a teacher, my faith plays a central role in everything I do. I am constantly reminded that I am shepherding my students, and I try to form relationships with both my students and their families that are built on trust and shared values. I know how much parents care about their children’s education, so I strive to be the kind of teacher I would want for my own kids—someone who deeply cares for their hearts, minds, and growth.

One of my favorite memories is simply being able to share the Word of God with my students. There’s nothing like watching their faces light up as we uncover a new morsel of truth from Scripture. I love the way they respond, their enthusiasm and joy in discovering God’s love for them.
