FCServes: Engaging Lower School Families In Service

At Faith Christian School, one of our traditions is FCServes, a Lower School service club that engages families in serving the community of Roanoke.

For many years, Faith Christian School planned quarterly events under the FCServes banner. These events enabled all Lower School families to participate in smaller service projects, but this tradition was interrupted by two years of COVID protocols. After things returned to normal, Megan Ellis, one of our FCS parents, approached the Administration to make sure we re-instituted this family-centered tradition that falls in line with our "Ministerium" or "Heart to Serve" motto.

Last year, FCServes hosted blessing bag construction (putting together bags with items that can be handed to a homeless person), a coat drive, and they stocked the art supply closet at Apple Ridge Farm as a smaller part of the Project Faith initiative. Special thanks to Megan for getting this tradition back on track!

This year, the Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO) has taken FCServes on! Look for the following events:

  1. Blessing Bags for the Homeless - Located in the Great Room, Wednesday, October 4 - Sign up to bring needed items for the bags, here!
  2. Christmas Coat Drive - More details to come.
  3. Spring Project - To be determined; More details to come!

This is a fantastic way to let students be the hands and feet of Jesus, so don't miss out!
