Senior Spotlight: Emily Childress, Class of 2023
In what grade did you start attending Faith?
Kindergarten
What activities were you involved in while you were a student at Faith?
I have been involved in Basketball, Veritas Honor Society, Ministerium Service Club, Fides, La Mesa (Spanish Club), and I have served as a Project Faith Student Manager for three years.
What might some of your favorite memories be?
My favorite memories are Senior Retreat, Kindergarten Buddies, and the relationships that I have with my classmates and how close we are.
What is your thesis topic and why did you choose it?
My thesis is on paying college athletes for name, image, and likeness and the best policies for moving forward. I chose this topic because I have always enjoyed watching college sports, and I wanted to learn more about the business side of sports.
What do you feel have been some of the academic benefits of attending Faith Christian School?
The class sizes are smaller, so students are able to form relationships with their teachers, who are always willing to help. Also, Christ is tied into and applied to each subject that we learn.
Has there been a teacher at FCS that has impacted your faith, education or personal growth in a significant way? If you were to say thank you to this person, what might you say?
Mr. Virgin, thank you for everything you have done for our class and for always being willing to help us.
What are some things you would like to tell younger students as they continue their education at FCS?
Although school may be challenging at times, always do your best. Work and study hard, but also remember that your grades do not define who you are. Try to maintain a balance between school and work and also for different activities outside of school.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to attend Virginia Tech and major in Exercise Science to pursue a career in physical therapy.
