“I aspire to be the person that I would need at my lowest point. When we inspire the best in others, we end up bringing out the best in ourselves.”

- Dr. Noah McNeill (Nature Studies/Library/Journalism Teacher)

I am a husband and dog dad, originally hailing from 160 acres of breezy, beautiful Western New York countryside. You can guess where my love of nature began!

My wife, Kayleigh, and I have called the Roanoke Valley home for the past three years. We attend Fellowship Community Church, where you’ll often see me drumming in the worship team. I like to bring an upbeat and lighthearted energy to any situation!

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

I love anything that gets me connected to God and his nature! Birdwatching, mountain drives by motorcycle, and listening to/making music are some of my favorites. I enjoy a rousing tennis or ping pong match, as well as watching NFL football.

What post-secondary schools did you attend? Degrees held?
  • B.S Biology, B.S. Environmental Science – Allegheny College, Meadville, PA
  • Ph.D. Biological Sciences – Virginia Tech
Have you taught or been involved in schools somewhere else prior to FCS? If so, where, and how long?

I was a lab instructor and teaching assistant at Virginia Tech for six years while working on my Ph.D. I am excited for my first major opportunity in PK-12 education!

What or who inspired you to work in education?

I have been blessed by so many inspiring educators. Educational and spiritual mentorship from my parents in elementary homeschool (and from many others along the way) has primed me for this role.

Given numerous cultural and technological developments of late, I feel God calling me to pour into this generation of growing hearts and minds. Engaging with the many eager and curious students at FCS feels like looking in the mirror at a younger me!

What's your favorite book you've read?

Written by a kindred spirit whom I wish to emulate, Bob Goff’s Love Does sticks out to me.

How many books do you have stacked on your bedside table or in your "To Read" pile?

Who is still counting?! In all seriousness, I relish any opportunity to read some mind-bending fiction, theology, or philosophy. Send your recommendations my way!

What do you find most compelling or distinct about Christian classical education?

I feel that a superior education is characterized by a love for Christ and discovery, mastery of reason and attentive communication, and a well-developed instinct for profound questions. I believe Christian classical education most tangibly instills those traits in young people.

What do you love about the idea of teaching at FCS or what do you anticipate appreciating the most?

I cannot wait to develop my classes amidst the close-knit and supportive environment at Faith Christian School. I am confident that FCS's devotion to collective excellence fully equips its students for success.

If you have a "life verse" or a verse that is ministering to you right now, what might it be?

Romans 5:3-5 - “…we also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.”

If you have a personal life's mission statement, what is it? If not, how might you describe what you feel called to as a believer?

I aspire to be the person that I would need at my lowest point. When we inspire the best in others, we end up bringing out the best in ourselves.
