Senior Spotlight: Brock Badillo, Class of 2024
In what grade did you start attending Faith Christian School?
I started attending Faith Christian School halfway through ninth grade after switching from Kings Christian.
What activities were you involved in while you were a student at Faith Christian School?
I have been involved with many theater productions, both with acting and set design. I also attended Spanish Club, participated in Veritas Honors Society, and sang in the school’s Praise Team.
What might some of your favorite memories be?
One of my favorite memories from FCS was last year’s River Day. The weather was perfect, and River Day on that day was so unexpected. I did so many different things that day and connected with so many different people.
What is your thesis topic and why did you choose it?
My thesis topic explores the ethics of the modern zoo. I was struggling to pick a topic that I was interested in, but when I found an article on the effects that zoos have on animals, my interest was really sparked, and I started to become a lot more passionate about my Senior Thesis.
How might your learning in a Christian environment at FCS positively affect you?
The people at FCS are taught to make people feel welcome, especially when you’re new. They know how to make you believe that you are loved and supported. Being in such an environment has affected me greatly.
Has there been a teacher at FCS that has impacted your faith, education, or personal growth in a significant way? If you were to say thank you to this person, what might you say?
Mr. Virgin is definitely a great inspiration to all of us, but especially to me. In his theology class, Mr. Virgin impacted my writing style and encouraged me to keep writing and creating in my own way. Supporting creativity is such a crucial part of a young artist’s development.
What might it mean to you to have attended both a classical and Christian school?
I think these are both very unique elements for a school to have, and they certainly shape a student’s perspective in a way that you don’t find often anymore. A school that is both classical and Christian teaches the youth to be different from our society, which I think is just lovely. Attending Faith Christian School has sculpted my mind and brought to light so many aspects of life that I didn’t even know existed.
What are some things you would like to tell younger students as they continue their education at FCS?
To the younger students, I would advise to keep your mind on what’s important. Think for yourself, find the path you were meant to take, and surround yourself with people who love and care about you.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After school, I plan to go to VCU and study Visual Arts with a minor in Music. I plan on becoming a musician.
