In what grade did you start attending Faith?
I started attending Faith Christian School in fifth grade.
What activities were you involved in while you were a student at Faith?
I was involved in many clubs, including Fides, Veritas, Ministerium, Sodalitas, and the Student Government Association. I was also involved in the school sports such as basketball and volleyball.
What might some of your favorite memories be?
One of my favorite memories was the senior retreat. It was fun to get to hang out with the class outside of school and grow a more enriched bond with each other.
What is your thesis topic, and why did you choose it?
My thesis topic is “Stewardship in an Ultra-Processed Nation: Navigating between God-Given Nutrition and Laboratory-Made Products.” I chose this topic because I have always had a passion for the nutrition and fitness field.
How has learning in a Christian environment at FCS positively affected your education?
Learning here has positively affected my education because of the way in which we study the different subjects here. It causes us to look deeper, beyond the surface of subjects, and dive into the meaning behind the meaning. It allows us to freely look at subjects with a Christian perspective.
Has there been a teacher at FCS who has impacted your faith, education, or personal growth in a significant way? If you were to say thank you to this person, what might you say?
One teacher who has impacted me the most was Mr. Virgin, and the way he would strive to get to know each person, whether he taught them or not. He didn’t just get to know students at a surface level, but instead the real person. He not only got to know students but also encouraged them to be themselves without fear of judgment. He wasn’t only a teacher, but a friend. If I could say thank you to him, I would thank him for the difference he has made in my life. He has encouraged me to live life to the fullest and live it for Christ.
What does it mean to be a classical and Christian school?
A classical and Christian school means focusing on the Trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric), while incorporating a Christian worldview into every subject, whether math or literature. A classical and Christian education also focuses on academic rigor and being able to think well about good things.
What are some things you would like to tell younger students as they continue their education at FCS?
One thing I would like to tell younger students is not to define themselves by their success or grades. Your grades are just a number; they are not your identity. Your identity is found in Christ. These years go by fast, so enjoy them with your friends and do not worry about a future you do not control.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans are to attend Va Tech and study exercise science.
