"I love that God is the center of all learning and focusing on what is true and beautiful."
- Whitney Brannen, Junior Kindergarten Teacher

What post-secondary schools did you attend? Degrees held?

Bachelor in Arts, Communication Sciences and Disorders, James Madison
University; working on a Master of Arts in Teaching at Liberty University

Have you taught or been involved in schools somewhere else prior to FCS? If so, where, and how long?

I have taught at Cave Spring Baptist Preschool for 2 years. I also homeschooled my older two girls for 3 years and tutored for our homeschool community for 2 of those years.

What are your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of the school?

I love being outside, reading, taking care of my plants, and crafting (especially with my three girls). My family also enjoys board games and bike rides around our neighborhood.

What or who inspired you to work in education?

I have always loved working with children. I homeschooled my children until they started at Faith Christian School. I loved homeschooling and being a part of my children’s learning. After working at a preschool part-time, God placed in my heart the desire to be in the classroom full-time.

What do you love about the idea of teaching at Faith Christian School or what do you anticipate appreciating most about Faith Christian School?

I love that God is the center of all learning and focusing on what is true and beautiful.

What's a favorite book you've read?

A Shepherd’s Look at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller. It provides a beautiful in-depth look at Psalm 123 and God’s love for us.

How many books do you have stacked on your bedside table or in your "To
Read" pile?

Textbooks have been my main reading, so I have a running list of books I want to read. My top three books that are on my list are Raising Worry Free Girls by Sissy Goff, Mere Christianity (reread), and All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.

If you have a "life verse" or a verse that is ministering to you right now, what might it be?

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.   For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” - Ephesians 2:8-10
